Garwood Family Center Y Gets a Special Visit from Mayor & Former Councilma

Students at the Garwood Family Center Y located at 500 East Street in Garwood were very excited to receive a special visit from the Mayor of Garwood, Charles Lombardo, along with William Nierstedt, former councilman. Their visit included a lesson on the importance of tree planting and atree donated by the Union County Board of Freeholders and Union County Shade tree commission. The tree was planted by the playground for all to see and watch grow. The Garwood Family Center Y features several classrooms, a multipurpose room, a large outdoor field and two playgrounds for children to enjoy! Half-day summer camp is offered for ages 3-5 and full-day for grades K-5. During the school year, the Center provides full-day and half-day early learning programs for 2 ½ year olds-preschoolers as well as a before and afterschool experience for Garwood students in grades K-5. Activities include sports, recreation, arts & crafts, homework time and much more! A healthy snack is provided and the Healthy U program is incorporated into the curriculum. Registration is going on now for Summer Camp and the 2016-2017 school year.
